Dunlap Days! What’s a better way to kick off your school year than with a trip to the carnival? This annually held carnival was the talk of the school, even after it was over. But was it really worth the hype? Well, we interviewed three Dunlap High School sophomores who attended the event to see how they felt!
Our first interviewee is Akshara Vamaraju:
- How was your overall experience at Dunlap Days this year?
“It was okay. I mean, I expected more rides than what there were.”
- What was your favorite part of the carnival?
“The giant spinny green wheel thing.”
- What ride did you enjoy the most?
“Also, the giant spinny green wheel thing. I think it was Zero Gravity.”
- What was the crowd atmosphere like?
“I mean, mostly everyone we knew at school was there, so it was a really friendly community.”
- Was there anything you think could have been improved at the event?
“More rides added.”
- What is one memory you will remember the most from the carnival?
“The jokes that we said to each other in line for one of the rides. It was 30 minutes long.”
- Would you go again next year? If so, why?
“Yes. It was really fun, and I got a chance to take a break from school and have more fun with my friends and family.”
Our second interviewee is Amarachi Opara:
- What was your favorite part of the carnival?
“My favorite part was likely the rides.”
- What ride did you enjoy the most?
“My favorite ride was that hurricane one, though I recommend that you sit alone for that one.”
- Did you have a particular favorite food stand?
“I guess my favorite vendor was the one that advertised fried Oreos, but that was the only one I tried.”
- What is one memory from the carnival that is the most memorable?
“When me and Alex [her friend] were screaming on the Viper.”
- How was the wait time for attractions? Was it worth it?

- What was the first thing you did upon arrival?
“I got tickets and rode the swings with Alex and my sister.”
- How would you describe Dunlap Days in one word?
“Yes. It was really fun, and I got a chance to take a break from school and have more fun with my friends and family.”
