Dunlap High School has been buzzing with the latest book reviews! I interviewed some avid readers about what books they’ve been reading. Here are some of the best books to read while cozied up!

Interviewee one, a Dunlap Book Club member, has recently been reading If We Survive This by Racquel Marie. They stated:

“I liked the book. The main character was great, and so were the side characters.” She went on to say, “[However], you have to decide what happened to the main character, and I would have liked to have a set ending.”

They also specifically liked that, “The dog didn’t die.”

When asked if they would recommend it to people, they said,

“Yes, I think science fiction and fantasy readers would like it because of the combination of fantasy elements and an apocalypse.”

They went on to rave about the book, saying that it dealt with interesting topics and contained important ideas.

“…(it is meaningful); it dealt with a main character with OCD, and trusting people and family. It had great main ideas and underlying themes that can be applied in day-to-day life, like being yourself and second chances.”

Overall, If We Survive This sounds like an absolute must read! The interviewee gave it an overall 9 out of 10!

According to the second interviewee, the next book on the reading list for any fantasy or romance lovers should be The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater! Here, the interviewee talks about the third book, Blue Lily, Lily Blue.

“I like this book,” they said, “I didn’t originally like the author’s voice, but it’s growing on me. The plot is what kept me hooked; it’s so interesting!”

Overall, they said the book had a good balance of fantasy, romance, and magic! They gave it a 9/10 total.

The third interviewee had a rave review about My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi, the perfect book for all manga and action lovers. When asked why the book was one of their favorites, the interviewee stated,

“I loved it, the art style is very expressive and engaging, and the storyline and plot are very clear.” According to them, the book shared interesting themes. They noted specifically, “While it may not display any [immediate] life skills, it does show people that effort can make a difference. The protagonist is skill-less, but he undergoes intense training and becomes powerful with the help of his skilled mentor.”

The interviewee gave it an overall 10/10!
